Tetracycline Hydrochloride Ointment for Topical Use

Description

Tetracycline hydrochloride ointment, or tetracycline ointment is a tetracycline antibiotic drug for topical use. Its main component can specifically bind to the 30S subunit A site of bacterial ribosomes and prevent their growth by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. In simple terms, it can prevent bacteria from producing essential proteins, thereby effectively eliminating sensitive bacteria. This medicine is mainly used to treat surface skin infections caused by bacteria sensitive to drugs.

Usual Specifications:

Tetracycline hydrochloride ointment: 3%, 15g, 20g, 30g;

Indications

Tetracycline ointment is mainly used to treat surface skin infections caused by two types of sensitive bacteria: the first type is Gram-positive bacteria (common pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus), and the second type is Gram-negative bacteria (such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc.). These bacterial infections usually occur in the outermost layer of the skin and do not penetrate into the subcutaneous tissue.

When symptoms caused by the above-mentioned sensitive bacteria infection appear on the skin, tetracycline softening can be used for relief. The specific manifestations are redness, swelling, suppuration or inflammatory reactions in the infected area on the skin surface. Applying the ointment can effectively alleviate the discomfort in these areas. It should be noted that this drug is only effective against bacterial infections and has no therapeutic effect on skin problems caused by fungi or viruses.

The main ingredient of tetracycline ointment is the antibacterial drug tetracycline. To prevent bacteria from developing drug resistance and to maintain the efficacy of tetracycline and other antibacterial drugs, this ointment can only be used when a clear diagnosis is made or there is a high suspicion that the skin problem is caused by bacterial infection. For instance, when there are suppurative wounds, severe redness, swelling, heat and pain, etc., it is necessary to use it properly under the guidance of a doctor.

Before use, you must consult a professional doctor first. Under no circumstances should you apply it casually by yourself.

Contraindications

People allergic to the ingredients of tetracycline ointment are prohibited from using it. If skin stinging, rashes worsening or swelling occurs after application, stop using it immediately and rinse thoroughly.

Pregnant and lactating women: There is not yet sufficient research data, but it is known that oral tetracycline may affect fetal development, so its use is not recommended.

Children under 8 years old: They are in the stage of tooth and bone development. The use of tetracycline may cause tooth discoloration and should be avoided.

Elderly patients: Due to the decline in their body's metabolic capacity, the dosage of medication needs to be adjusted according to specific conditions.

Patients with impaired liver or kidney function: The metabolism and excretion of drugs in the body may be affected. When using them, the treatment plan should be adjusted under the guidance of a doctor
